1. Start the trial
Create an account with your work e-mail and confirm it from the link we send. You become your organisation's first admin. The trial is free for 7 days, needs no card, and covers both products on up to 40 workspaces.
2. Connect your tenant
A Fabric administrator and an Entra administrator create one service principal, allow it to use the read-only admin APIs, and add it as Contributor to the workspaces to document. Settings → Prerequisites walks through it and ticks each step off. The details are in Connecting your tenant.
Then enter the directory (tenant) ID, the application (client) ID and the secret under Settings → Connection. Fabriscope checks every permission live and says exactly which one is missing.
3. Choose workspaces
Under Settings → Workspaces, scan All (including workspaces created later) or only the ones you tick. One selection serves both products, and it is what your plan counts.
Choose whole chains: the workspaces where code runs, the storage workspaces it writes into, and the report workspaces that read them. A table written from a workspace you did not select shows as an unresolved target, and the page warns you about it.
4. Scan, and schedule it
Press Rescan in the top bar. Pages fill in as each step finishes: Report Audience's inventory in seconds, its first 30 days of audit log in a few minutes, and the Data Catalog in roughly five to twenty minutes for a few hundred items. A strip under the top bar shows each step as it runs.
Under Settings → Scan schedule, choose up to eight times a day and your time zone. Scheduled scans re-read only what changed; one a week is a full refresh.
5. Invite your team
Under Settings → Members, invite people as viewers (read both products), contributors (also write table and column descriptions) or admins (connection, workspaces, scans, members; at most five). Users are unlimited on every plan.
What to look at first
- Docs overview → Collection gaps: everything a scan could not reach, why, and what to do about it.
- A table you know well: check Produced by and the highlighted lines on its Code tab against what you expect.
- Who sees what for a sensitive report: open each group grant to the people inside.
- Licences: the seats nobody used in 30 days.
